Things to know about Band Camp
Parents - Students were informed of the basics of band camp at the last practice in June. Below are a few of the basics Mr. Hinman covered. Please note that your student must turn in a current sports physical soon. This is required in order to participate in marching band and guard.
Students should bring the following:
Water, water and more water (or possibly Gatorade, Vitamin water, etc.)
NOTE: NO Coffee (hot or iced!), Tea (hot or iced!), Energy Drinks, Soda, etc. These types of drinks can pose a hazard to your student's health when consumed during periods of sun, high heat and physical exertion.
Sunscreen (45 SPF or higher)
Show music
Binder (for music and drill notes) and pencil
A light snack
Mr. Hinman also addressed the following items with the students at the last practice regarding apparel for band camp:
Students should wear appropriate, modest, comfortable clothing, which includes:
Tennis Shoes.... NO flip flops or sandals. NO exceptions!!! This is for safety reasons.
Shorts (appropriate lengths - no short-shorts)
T-shirts (appropriate): Everyone's shirts should cover their shoulders to help prevent sunburns. NO spaghetti strap tank tops, swimsuit tops, bare midriffs or backsides, etc.
Hat (to prevent sunburned faces, necks and ears)
